ASTM A213 T12 is a specification for seamless alloy steel tubes for high-temperature service. This specification covers seamless ferritic and austenitic steel tubes for various applications such as boilers, superheaters, and heat exchangers.
The T12 designation indicates that the tube is made from 1.1/4Cr-1/2Mo alloy steel. This steel grade offers excellent resistance to high-temperature oxidation and corrosion, making it suitable for use in elevated temperature environments.
ASTM A213 T12 seamless alloy steel tubes are produced using a seamless manufacturing process, which involves the extrusion of a solid billet through a piercing and drawing process. This results in a tube with a smooth and uniform internal and external surface.
The mechanical properties of ASTM A213 T12 tubes include a minimum tensile strength of 415 MPa (60,000 psi) and a minimum yield strength of 220 MPa (32,000 psi). The tubes also have a minimum elongation of 30% and a maximum hardness of 163 HB.
In addition to the mechanical properties, ASTM A213 T12 tubes also undergo various tests to ensure their quality and performance. These tests include hydrostatic testing, flaring and flattening tests, tensile tests, and non-destructive tests such as eddy current testing and ultrasonic testing.
